Maritime - 'Parade of Punk Rock T-shirts'


Treatment

Our protagonist, a teenager who wears crazy and brightly-coloured T-shirts, is attempting to win the favour of an attractive girl. She, along with all the other plebeians, wear plain, boring T-shirts, and aren’t interested in the boy. What our protagonist doesn’t realize, however, is that throughout the video another girl who wears crazy T-shirts has been trying to gain his attention. At the end of the narrative the two brightly-dressed characters get together.

Lyrics
First bass drum hits of the intro, a different shot of each band member.
I think we can fly and swallow fire
Head and shoulders eye level shot, lead singer lip syncing.
Blow smoke and hold our breath for as long as it takes

Start of narrative to fit with the hi-hat fill. Main character getting dressed or preparing to go out or something similar.

Locations
We are planning on filming our performance shots in the drama studio at school, which means that we can create the stage as we want it to be. Also, once the lighting is set up, it will be constant throughout meaning that we can film on different days without the problem of changing light.

For our narrative, we were planning on filming in Dunorlan Park as this location has many different areas, including a lake, open fields, hills, cafe, trees etc. This will give us a large scope for very varied footage to make our video more interesting. This setting will also fit in with the youthful characters that will feature in our video.

Characters
We plan on having the four band members (lead singer, guitarist, bassist, drummer) and three other characters who will feature in the fuzzy narrative. The other characters will consist of a male protagonist and two girls, one of whom is the boring girl and the other is the interesting girl who wishes to be with the protagonist.
In terms of performance, we intend to have a fairly straight-up band set-up playing through the song, however they will change T-shirts every now and then – possibly every shot.

Camera Technique and Post Production Techniques
We were thinking of using some handi-cam in our music video, as this would mean that the shot would be more interesting and the content of the shot would be slightly less important. On the other hand, we have also been considering using the green screen and employing more post production techniques, including colour changes of the background or different locations being imported.
