Pendulum - Self Vs Self (Feat. In Flames)
I feel that this song would be a good choice for our music video production. This is because it has:
- Lots of vocals, meaning there could be lots of shots of the 'meat' (i.e. the singer's mouth as he or she is singing)
- Prominent guitar throughout, so there could be clips in the video of someone playing the guitar and singing etc. This would help if we were struggling to find themes to film.
- A relatively fast tempo, meaning the video could be dramatic and as a consequence look very effective and memorable.
Some ideas which we could potentially include in the video:
- Rainy scene in potentially black and white or selective colours, to fit the mood of the song
- Lots of close ups of the guitar being played, possibly in the rain
- Mostly performance-based
- Use of a green-screen so that we could place the singer into a dramatic location without actually travelling.
- Lots of special effects, as we have the software available to do so.
I think this would be a really good song to do and I can imagine it would make a great video. My only issues, however, is in the performance aspect. The instrumentation would be quite difficult to synchronize with the video, and I also think it would be hard to find a singer who looks like they have that grain of voice. This could be something we could try out in a few shots though.
